Children want to play and learn. They enjoy the activities that combine both and it is up to those of us who mother and father them along with their sisters and brothers, grandmothers and grandfathers, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Taking time to explore the universe and everything around us gives children the opportunity to see your mind working too.
Today, I took a long walk in a new neighborhood in between the massive movement of clouds bringing rainstorms. I saw the sun peer between cumulus clouds for 15-minute intervals which also brought out all of the beautiful small birds to flit about outside of their nests. Those little passerines with their sonorous morning songs are just as cooped up as us humans on rainy days. One thing you can pick up for your home to see those little winged loves up close is a good set of binoculars. Children LOVE to see through binoculars and with them you can fulfill endless hours of curious minds.
